Henry Hoey Hobson Brisbane launch

Ack, it’s almost upon us. The Brisbane launch of Henry Hoey Hobson.

There will be drinks and me and the fabulous Marj Kirkland, illustrious grand poobah of the Childrens Book Council of Australia. Also my esteemed publisher, Leonie Tyle, waving the Woolshed Press/Random House Australia banner.

Click here to check it out on Coaldrake’s Author Events and here for the true story behind Henry Hoey Hobson (yes, I made it all up, apart from the drinks around the coffin. That really happened).

Love to see any, and all, who can make it on the night.Β  Can. not. wait. πŸ™‚

  1. Lynn says:

    Can’t WAIT! See you there!

  2. chrisbongers says:

Awesome, Lynn. Look forward to toasting HHH with you. xx

  3. Congratulations on your new book, Chris,

Unfortunately I can’t make it to your launch. I can’t spend all my life in Brisbane LOL.

Have a blast. I’m sure you will. I’ll be cheering you on from icy Victoria.

Can’t wait to read all about Henry.

  4. Go, Chris. You’re on fire!!!!! Congratulations. xx

  5. chrisbongers says:

Thanks Dee. Believe it or not I had the heater on in Brissie today. With the wind chill factor, I don’t think it got over 20 degrees. Brrrrr.

  6. So wish I could be there Chris! I feel like Henry is already a close friend, having heard so much about him, so know I will be cheering him on from chilly Adelaide. Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!

    • chrisbongers says:

Thanks Kath. Huggy’s wearing his red cable knit, and it’s Brisbane! How’s Frankie coping with the Adelaide chill?

      • He’s grown his wooly coat ridiculously long, so he somewhat resembles a sheep, and refuses to move from my lap most of the day (but at least he keeps me warm too). Huggy would look gorgeous in his red coat!

  7. chrisbongers says:

Huggy looks like a little preppy nerd beagle in his red cable knit. It has a collar. Need I say more?

  8. Looking forward to it, Chris. πŸ™‚

  9. chrisbongers says:

    Thanks Sheryl, me too! πŸ™‚

  10. Marion Martineer says:

Hi Chris, Not sure if I can get there. It’s a little hard on a school/work night for the GC/Bris run! But if I don’t get there my well wishes certainly will be! Good luck, Marion. xo

  11. […] Today I rolled another yarn, putting that commute to good use: a brand new story from Chris Bongers, a Brisbane writer who’s in the zone with her first book getting attention from the Children’s Book Council, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Henry Hoey Hobson does too. Chris sent it down as a nod, one I was proud to receive — it seems my penchant for using a coffin as an ice box at our Halloween parties has made an impression! In the Twilight age, it might be easy to think the Fright Night-style cover indicates yet another slipstreaming YA love-in-the-dark affair, but thankfully, it ain’t so. Chris grew up in the central west of Queensland and that dry, larrikin humour is tickling under the surface of this book, an affecting tale of a young fellah and his mum trying to cut it in the big smoke. It’s a yarn about family and fitting in and acceptance, the voice is spot-on, and the Addams Family elements made my day. The details of the Brisbane launch are here. […]
